High-Rise Fire Protection
Due to their size high rise building inherently present challenges to both the occupants and first responders in the event of a fire emergency. To help mitigate these challenges high rise buildings are required to be provided with specific fire protection systems. This presentation will discuss the definition of a high rise building; the code and standard requirements applicable to high rise buildings; the required water based fire protection systems and equipment; and the system design and installation requirements that the designer of record needs to consider to provide a design that meets the code requirements while being integrated with the building architecture and other support systems.
